Why PCH? Why were you interested in joining the PCH Board and working for affordable housing in Princeton? And how long have you been on the Board?
I was approached by Ed and Sara to join the board because my church had representation on the board in the past. I believed it to be an important and exciting opportunity to serve in the community. Advocating for affordable housing in Princeton for those who desire to live in a community of its tremendous resources was a call to do justice.
What is your professional background?
I currently serve as pastor of Mount Pisgah AME Church. My background has included: 1) active duty United States Navy chaplain; 2) assistant university chaplain (Brown University); 3). associate dean of religious life and the chapel (Princeton University).
What other volunteer activities do you participate in?
I have only been back in the Princeton area since 2019 (nine months prior to the pandemic); hence, I have not been involved in other volunteer activities. Our church hosted Mr. Rogers Neighbors' Kindness Project for one year.
How long have you been in the Princeton area and why did you come to this community?
I lived and worked in Princeton at the University for 18 years. I came to Princeton for a job.
What are your hobbies and interests, specifically as they relate to housing?
In the now long ago, I took students on a trip to rebuild a burned church in Buffalo, South Carolina. Habitat for Humanity is a group that often captures my attention and interest because of the work done to make sure people have suitable shelter from the elements of life.
