As Princeton Community Housing’s Princeton Rentals and Hopewell Sales Manager, Vanessa Valentine finds her greatest joy in witnessing the transformative impact of her work. For Vanessa, there’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing the excitement of families moving into safe, affordable homes. She describes these moments as life-changing, highlighting how access to secure housing can profoundly affect individuals and families on every level.
In her role with Princeton Rentals, Vanessa manages a diverse portfolio that includes three PCH-owned single-family homes and additional scattered-site apartments owned by Princeton University and other property owners in the municipality. Her responsibilities range from filling vacancies and managing the waitlist to certifying tenants for eligibility. She also oversees aspects of property management for two condominium associations, focusing on shared exterior spaces while homeowners maintain their interiors. On the sales side, Vanessa leads affordable housing initiatives in Hopewell Township, helping promote homeownership opportunities. She guides potential buyers through the complex certification and purchasing processes, fostering a pathway to sustainable, affordable homeownership.
Before stepping into her current role, Vanessa served as PCH’s Property Management Assistant, supporting Princeton Rentals, Hopewell Sales, and Griggs Farm. Her background also includes managing housing and community programs in market-rate housing, where she cultivated a deep understanding of both community needs and operational complexities.
Vanessa emphasizes that success in her multifaceted role hinges on organization, clear communication, compassion, and a genuine passion for working with people. These qualities shine through as she engages with tenants, property owners, prospective buyers, and community partners, ensuring properties are well-maintained, vacancies are filled, and the waitlist for affordable homes is managed with care.
